BEIJING, December 10 (INP): Chinese government attaches high importance to the development of human rights, adhering to the principle of universality of human rights and regards the right to existence, said a spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Hua Chunying here on Tuesday.
On the occasion of World Human rights Day, she said at a news conference that over the past 70 years, the Chinese nation has ushered in standing up, becoming rich, and becoming stronger.
While giving due importance to basic rights of its people, China solved the food and clothing of nearly 1.4 billion people, reduced 850 million poor people, provided employment for 770 million people, provided basic guarantees for 250 million elderly people, 85 million disabled people, and more than 60 million urban and rural subsistence allowances.
The historic leap of 100 million people from poverty to food and clothing to a well-off society, built the world's largest education system, the largest social security system, the largest medical system, and the largest grassroots democratic election system, writing a history of human rights progress in China
This chapter widens the realistic scheme of international human rights protection and enriches the diversity of human civilization. This is a fact that anyone without prejudice has to admit.
“ We believe that all the countries should further promote and protect human rights, abide by the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, respect the path of human rights development chosen by each country, adhere to an objective, fair, non-selective stand, and avoid politicizing human rights issues and double standards.
China is willing to continue to develop and strengthen exchanges and cooperation with other parties in the field of human rights on the basis of equality and mutual respect. Cooperation will promote development, development will promote human rights, and we will jointly build a community with a shared future for mankind.”
