The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has disbursed over one billion rupees funds to various sports federations and athletes over the last five years, according to financial details released by the board. The data, covering the fiscal years from 2019/20 to 2023/24, shows that the majority of the funds were allocated in the last two years. According to PSB documents, more than 500 million PKR was distributed to federations and athletes in the fiscal year 2023/24, followed by over 420 million in 2022/23. In contrast, just 42.5 million PKR was allocated in 2019/20, with 69.5 million in 2021/22 and 41.25 million in 2020/21. The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) received over 103.6 million PKR in the last five years, including more than 59 million in the previous fiscal year alone.
The Athletics Federation was granted over 100 million PKR during this period, while the Volleyball Federation received 100 million in 2023/24, with a total of 115 million in the last five years. The Athletics Federation of Pakistan was awarded 70 million PKR in 2023/24, the Netball Federation received 70 million PKR over five years, and the Taekwondo Federation received 60 million during the same period. Additionally, the Tennis Federation was funded with 48.6 million PKR. Other allocations included 50 million PKR for the Squash Federation, 26.5 million for the Rifle Association, 30 million for the Boxing Federation, 24.7 million for the Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association, and 37.5 million for the Cycling Federation over the past five years.
