Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has received an invitation to attend the International Cricket Council (ICC) Board meeting and watch the Indian Premier League (IPL) final.According to media reports,  Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would decide whether Naqvi, who is also the country’s interior minister, would go to India or not.

As per a cricket website, ICC’s Board meeting would be held on May 30 and May 31 in Ahmadabad, while the ICC’s Chief Executive Committee’s virtual meeting would be held on May 21.The website says that uncertainty surrounds the PCB chairman’s participation in the ICC’s Board meeting at which views will be exchanged over changes in the format of World Test Championship. A working group, headed by former New Zealand cricketer Roger Twose, has drafted new proposals for changes in the format.

The website informs that one of the proposals is to increase the number of teams, which will feature in the championship, from nine to 12. Discussion will be held to include Zimbabwe, Ireland and Afghanistan into the championship, says the website, adding that in the present format, it is mandatory to play at least two matches in each series. The ICC is optimistic that work on new WTC structure will be completed ahead of Edinburgh meeting in July.
