Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir faces visa delay for Ireland tourBreaking

May 06, 2024

The Pakistan cricket team's departure for their tour of Ireland and England has hit a snag as fast bowler Mohammad Amir's visa for Ireland has been delayed. The rest of the squad is scheduled to leave for Dublin on Tuesday, May 7th, but Amir will be missing the initial leg of the trip. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) expressed optimism that Amir will receive his visa soon. However, speculation suggests the delay might be linked to Amir's past involvement in a spot-fixing scandal in 2010, which resulted in a short prison sentence in the UK. This is not the first time Amir has encountered visa complications. A similar situation arose during Pakistan's 2018 tour of Ireland and England, where he eventually joined the team later. It remains to be seen if Amir can overcome this hurdle and rejoin the squad in Ireland before the start of the series.
