Pakistan has confirmed its participation in the upcoming Paris Olympics with an 18-member squad comprising athletes from athletics, shooting, and swimming disciplines. Scheduled to commence on July 26, the national team will feature seven athletes prepared to compete on the global stage. In a significant moment anticipated during the opening ceremony, either shooter Kashmala Talat or javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem is expected to lead the Pakistani contingent. Sources indicate that Arshad Nadeem and Faiqa Riaz will represent Pakistan in athletics, aiming to make their mark in their respective events.
The shooting team includes Ghulam Mustafa Bashir, Kashmala Talat, and Gulfam Joseph, supported by coaches Gandy and Junaid Ali. Meanwhile, the swimming team will be represented by Ahmed Durrani, Ahmad Ali Khan, and Jahan Ara, accompanied by team officials including Haji Mohammad Shafiq and Javed Lodhi. With aspirations high following a medal-less outing at the Tokyo Olympics, hopes are pinned on Arshad Nadeem's potential breakthrough in javelin throw. The first phase of the delegation's departure is set with the shooting team leaving on July 19, followed by swimmers and officials on July 22, and the athletics team departing on July 24.
