Islamabad United's Naseem Shah fined for kicking stumpsBreaking

March 11, 2024

Islamabad United pacer Naseem Shah was fined 10% of his match fee for breaching Level One of the HBL PSL Code of Conduct during their encounter against Multan Sultans. The young fast bowler was found guilty of violating Article 2.2, which prohibits the misuse of cricket equipment, clothing, ground equipment, or fixtures. Shah kicked the stumps in frustration after the final ball of Multan Sultans' innings. Naseem accepted the charges and sanctions recommended by match referee Roshan Mahanama, negating the need for a formal hearing. The on-field umpires, Ruchira Palliyaguruge and Mohammad Asif, had filed the accusation. In a separate incident during the same match, Multan Sultans faced a penalty for maintaining a slow over rate. Match referee Roshan Mahanama, considering time allowances, ruled that the Sultans were one over short of their target. Consequently, each Multan Sultans player received a 10% fine on their match fee as per Article 2.22 of the Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel.
