The Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) has commenced the Inter-Divisional phase of the National Talent Hunt Boxing Championship from on Saturday under its ongoing nationwide talent hunt program.According to PBF President Lieutenant Colonel (R) Nasir Ijaz Tung, the initiative is being organized in collaboration with the Pakistan Army with the primary objective of identifying and promoting emerging boxing talent across the country.
In Punjab, the competitions are being held at the Sports Complex of the University of Agriculture Faisalabad, where around 300 male and female boxers are competing in three age categories: Under-17, Under-19, and Under-22.Nasir Tung stated that two teams will be selected from Punjab following the four-day competition, while similar selection trials will be conducted in other provinces to identify top-performing boxers for the next stage.He expressed gratitude to the Pakistan Army for its full support, noting that their cooperation is playing a vital role in introducing fresh talent and strengthening boxing at the grassroots level.
Following the divisional round, successful boxers will advance to the Provincial Championships in the third phase, where they will further showcase their abilities. The National Talent Hunt Program is designed to reinforce grassroots boxing and produce future national and international champions.The PBF President reaffirmed that the joint commitment of the Pakistan Boxing Federation and the Pakistan Army is to elevate Pakistan boxing to a competitive and respected position on the global stage.
