Usman Wazir, a Pakistani boxer who had defeated his Indian opponent in the 16th professional fight, has returned home. He was warmly welcomed on arrival at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport as fans shouted ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ to express their jubilation.  Speaking to the media on the occasion, Wazir, who remained unbeaten in the tournament, said he was ecstatic to beat his opponent and expressed his determination to continue to win laurels for the country.  The boxer said that the people supported his participation in the tournament.

He went on to say that although he belonged to Gilgit-Baltistan, he was a Pakistani and for him the country came first.  Wazir had made the nation proud by outclassing his Indian rival in the first round of his 16th professional fight three days ago. The thrilling encounter took place at World Siam Stadium in Bangkok, where the 25-year-old defeated India’s Eswaran Sadhita Dorathi in less than 90 seconds. Wazir’s victory marks another impressive chapter in his undefeated professional career, as he has now won all 16 of his bouts.
