A woman brutally killed her co-wife after hitting her with a bailna (dough-roller), packed her body into a sack and hid it in Liaquatabad area of Lahore. Police sources said that the accused woman who was later identified as Sadia hid the dead body of her co-wife on the roof of the house. After passage of five days, residents of the area felt stench and informed the police. Soon after receiving the report a police team reached the area and arrested the accused.
Further investigation was underway. TV grab shows murder accused Sadia in police custody. A report by UN Women and UNODC reveals that globally, 85,000 women and girls were killed intentionally in 2023. 60 percent of these homicides – 51,100 - were committed by an intimate partner or a family member. The data shows that 140 women and girls die every day at the hands of their partner or a close relative, which means one woman or girl is killed every 10 minutes.
