Veteran journalist and group President Geo and Jang Imran Aslam passed away in Karachi on Friday at the age of 70. An icon of the media industry, Imran Aslam had been ill for quite some time and was under treatment in a local hospital. Today, he breathed his last and passed away. Imran Aslam’s Namaz-e-Janaza will be offered at Marine Apartments behind South City Hospital at 4:00 pm on Saturday (December 3). He will be laid to rest at Defence Phase 8 graveyard. Mr Aslam was born in Madras in 1952.
He went to London in the 1970s for higher studies. He was among the team of pioneers who launched the Geo network. The Geo News, Geo Entertainment and Geo Super were started under his able guidance. He boasted a wonderful journalistic career. He was one of the founding members of distinguished English newspaper The News. He worked as Chief News Editor and Senior Editor of The News. Besides this, he wrote more than 60 hit dramas which were performed on TV and stage.
