The Pakistan Customs foiled a bid to smuggle dozens of laptops, cells phones, PC tablets and other items worth millions of rupees and arrested three Sharja returned passengers at Islamabad Airport on Wednesday. According to officials, upon sight of customs team, three Sharja returned passengers leaving their baggage in the airport lounge tried to flee.
However, the customs officials held Akhtar Abbas, Zubair Khan and Ali Raza. During search of the luggage, a drone, 52 smart/iphones, three batteries, 34 laptops, eight tablets and other items worth 10 million rupees were recovered. During initial investigation, the detainees revealed that it was fifth visit of Akhtar Abbas to Sharja and first visit of the two others. A case was registered against the nabbed passengers under Customs Act and investigations were underway.
