The Federal Investigation Agency Faisalabad Zone arrested 232 human smugglers during the current year, while over Rs.117 million recovered from the accused was returned to victims of fraud,here on Tuesday.  According to an FIA official, the agency launched vigorous operations against human trafficking and illegal migration networks,resulting in the registration of 1,134 inquiries and 326 cases against suspects involved in human smuggling activities. 

He said FIA teams conducted raids in various parts of the region and arrested 232 accused during the operations.  Courts also awarded punishments in 40 cases after evidence and records were presented during trial proceedings.  The official said more than Rs.117 million recovered from the accused during anti-human smuggling operations had been returned to the affected victims. 

Highlighting the agency’s ongoing campaign against trafficking networks,he said indiscriminate action against those involved in human smuggling would continue to protect citizens from exploitation and fraud.  The FIA also advised the public to contact only licensed overseas employment promoters for jobs or travel abroad and urged citizens to verify the credentials of agents before making payments.
