The mercury took a plunge after rain coupled with thunderstorms lashed a number of cities in Sindh late last night and Wednesday morning.There were reports of thundershowers from Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Mirpur Mathelo and other cities which turned the weather cold again. However, the rain came at a cost as the power supply to different localities in many cities was suspended.Jacobabad and its suburbs received light rain, which resulted in the suspension of power supply.
However, it applied brakes to approaching summer season.Light to moderate rain, accompanied by cool breeze, in Shikarpur and surrounding areas brought the mercury down. Several feeders were tripped after thundershowers lashed Mirpur Mathelo and towns in its outskirts namely Garhi Chakar and Jarwar. Light rain, accompanied by cold winds, was also reported from Kashmore and its surrounding areas, which turned the weather pleasant.
On the other hand, after several days of extreme heat, Karachi will receive thundershowers today.Rain will also be accompanied by strong winds. The minimum temperature in the Sindh capital on Wednesday morning was recorded at 23 degrees Celsius, while it was expected to touch 32 degrees Celsius in the afternoon.The level of moisture in the air stood at 87 per cent, while breeze was blowing from the north-east at the speed of eight kilometers per hour.Rain and snow were reported from different areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), which turned the weather cold again.
Another spell of rain lashed Upper Dir after a gap of one day, while upper areas received light snow, which disrupted routine life.Meanwhile, heavy rain, accompanied by strong winds, continued in different parts of district Khyber such as Barra and Jamrud. Farmers, on the other hand, termed rains beneficial for the wheat and other crops.Temperatures plummeted following thundershowers in different areas of Balochistan. It rained cats and dogs in Kalat and its adjoining areas.
