Tackling PTI protest costs Punjab Police Rs1.50 billionBreaking

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s (PTI) November 24th protest cost the Punjab Police over Rs1.50 billion. Police officials told a TV Channel, that 27,000 personnel of the Force were deployed in different cities of the province, including Lahore, to stop the party workers from marching towards Islamabad, while a contingent of 2,000 cops had also been sent to the federal capital to keep them at bay. The officials have claimed that the protestors killed one policeman besides injuring 131 others. While they held 20 employees of the Force hostage, they have said, adding dozens of vehicles were either set ablaze or badly damaged. 

Elaborating further, the officials have said that the department bore expenditures close to Rs1 billion only under the head of petrol, meals and accommodation for its employees. Now, they have informed, the department has demanded Rs500 million from the government as compensation for the losses its employees suffered at the hands of the protestors. Furthermore, they have said, the head office gave 60,000 teargas shells to the police ahead of the protest, which cost it Rs400 million.
