Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has rejected the summary of Rs 15 increase in metro bus and speedo bus service fare. The decision was taken during a meeting of Punjab Mass Transit Authority (PMTA) on Tuesday. The CM directed the PMTA to work in a new and unique way to increase the revenue of the authority. He also gave in-principle approval to run electric buses from Lahore Railway Station to Green Town. With the support of the World Bank, 27 electric buses will be operated in Lahore under the pilot project. It was also decided to run electric buses for Islamabad and Rawalpindi Pakistan Metrobus service. The CM's decision to reject the fare increase is a welcome relief for the people of Punjab, who are already struggling to make ends meet due to the high cost of living. It is hoped that the PMTA will be able to find innovative ways to increase its revenue without resorting to fare increases.
