Despite registration of FIRs and house-arrest of many students involved in recent violence at Punjab University in Lahore, clashes once again erupted between rival student groups which turned the varsity into a battlefield on the night between Friday and Saturday. It reported in media that number of students were injured in the latest clashes which took place at a hostel of the Punjab University. Violence started when baton-wielding students conducted room-checking of students who were residing in the university’s hostel. A wave of panic and harassment gripped the university forcing students to keep themselves locked up in their hostel rooms. Sources said that the administration of Punjab University and police failed to adopt effective strategy to tackle students creating troubles in the educational institution.
