Smog becomes severe in Lahore and Karachiتازترین

Despite steps taken by the government of the Punjab against brick kilns, smoke-emitting vehicles, work stills needs to be done to bring down pollution levels in Lahore as with the air quality index (AQI) recorded at 231, the city of gardens emerged as the second most polluted city in the world on Saturday. Indian capital New Delhi was at the top of the list of the cities with worst air quality as the AQI in the city shot up to 437.  Most of the areas in the Punjab capital remain covered in smog, reducing visibility on roads. 

The minimum temperature was recorded at 11 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature was expected to go up to 25 degrees Celsius later in the day.  The Met Office forecast cold and dry weather for the city during the next 24 hours.  The situation with respect to smog in other cities of the Punjab was not satisfactory at all, as with the AQI recorded at 500, Kasur emerged as most polluted city in the country on Saturday.

There is nip in the air in the morning as the minimum temperature in the port city was recorded at 15 degrees Celsius. However, days continue to be warmer as the weather department said that it would remain 32 degrees Celsius on the maximum side.  Breeze was blowing from the north-east at a speed of six kilometers per hour, while the humidity level was recorded at 60 per cent. The Met Office said that there was no chance of rain in the city during the next week.
