At least six police personnel, including a station house officer (SHO), were martyred, and one constable was injured in a bomb blast targeting a police vehicle in Lakki Marwat on Friday. According to the district police officer (DPO), the attack took place when the police vehicle was targeted during routine patrolling in the Bettani area. The incident occurred near the Rasul Khel checkpost on the main road connecting Shadi Khel and Masti Khel.
Sources said an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated near the official vehicle of SHO Sadr Azam of Shadi Khel Police Station while the patrol was passing through the area. The martyred personnel were identified as SHO Sadr Azam, Constable Shah Bahram, Constable Shah Khalid, Constable Haji Muhammad, Constable Gulzada and Constable Shakhi Zada. Constable Insafuddin sustained injuries in the explosion.
In a statement, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi strongly condemned the attack on the police vehicle and paid tribute to the six officers who lost their lives in the line of duty. Naqvi expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of the martyred personnel and praised the bravery of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police. He said the courageous officers had sacrificed their present for the peaceful future of the nation. “The martyrs are our pride, and their great sacrifices will always be remembered,” the minister said.
