Sindh Cabinet approves budget for FY2026-27Breaking

The Sindh Cabinet has approved the provincial budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 today (Wednesday) ahead of its formal presentation in the provincial assembly.The approval was given during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. Sindh CM said that the new budget reflects the government’s commitment to improving services for the people of Sindh and ensuring that all segments of society are considered.

He added that the provincial government, on the direction of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, is taking special measures for poverty reduction and social welfare.The cabinet meeting approved the budget for FY2026-27, which will later be presented in the Sindh Assembly by the chief minister.Officials said the province’s total budget size is estimated at around Rs3.4 trillion, while the development budget is expected to be lower compared to the current fiscal year. 

The Provincial Development Programme is projected at Rs385 billion, including thousands of ongoing schemes along with some newly proposed projects. According to budget details, around 73 percent of Sindh’s revenue depends on federal transfers under the National Finance Commission (NFC) award. The government is also considering a 10 percent increase in salaries and an 8 percent rise in pensions.The upcoming budget includes development allocations across key sectors, although overall development spending is expected to decline by around 28 percent compared to the previous year.
