The Ministry of Finance has submitted detailed records to the Senate, revealing a significant increase in the national debt over the past three years. According to the written report, the national debt surged by PKR 31.5 trillion during this period. In the fiscal year 2021-22, the debt grew by PKR 9.4 trillion, followed by an increase of PKR 13.7 trillion in 2022-23, and another PKR 8.4 trillion in 2023 -24. Additionally, the Ministry of Finance also provided details on new taxpayers, reporting that 3.5 million new taxpayers were registered across the country in 2023.
