Business tycoon Shamsheer Ali from Dubai has been appointed as a member of the Board of Governors (BoG) of the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF). The formal notification was issued on July 25, 2024, following Cabinet Decision No. 343/Rule 19/2024/608. The federal government made this appointment as part of its efforts to address the development of Pakistanis living abroad. Shamsheer Ali will primarily focus on the concerns of Pakistanis residing in the UAE and neighboring GCC countries, aiming to assist in policymaking for the welfare of non-resident Pakistanis.
The OPF board meeting, presided over by OPF Chairman Syed Qamar Raza, included key figures such as Director Shaheen Khalid Butt, Director Afzal Bhatti, Director Shamsheer Ali, Director Onaza Ehsan Butt, Secretary Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Managing Director OPF, Additional Secretary Ministry of Finance, and Additional Secretary Ministry of Law and Justice. Expressing his commitment, Shamsheer Ali stated, "I am honored to serve Pakistan and the overseas Pakistani community. I will perform my duties to the best of my abilities."
Shamsheer Ali began his career at Citibank and quickly moved into real estate and large-scale investment projects. He is a strong advocate for providing equal opportunities to underprivileged individuals and has been actively involved in charitable activities in the UAE and South Asia. He has supported various organizations and facilitated the education of children in numerous schools.
