On the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab, a series of meetings with scholars belonging to different schools of thought is continuing at the Home Department. In this regard, a delegation led by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister and Chairman Ulema Council Pakistan Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi met with Provincial Minister and Chairman Cabinet Committee on Law and Order Khawaja Salman Rafique on Monday. Secretary Home Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi, Special Secretary Home Faisal Farid.
Additional IG Operations Muhammad Ali Nekokara, DG Auqaf Punjab, DIG Special Branch, DIG CTD, Additional Secretary Internal Security, Additional Secretary Special Initiative Dr. Syed Tahir Raza Bukhari and other senior officials attended the meeting. The delegation comprised National Peace Message Committee Punjab President Hafiz Maqbool Ahmed, Dr. Mir Asif Akbar Qadri, Qaiser Ahmed Raja, Abdul Waris Gill and Allama Tahir-ul-Hassan. The meeting discussed inter-Muslim unity and the overall law and order situation in the province.
Khawaja Salman Rafique said that in accordance with the vision of Chief Minister Punjab, the government is promoting inter-Muslim and interfaith unity. He said consultations with respected scholars belonging to all schools of thought are continuing under the leadership of the Chief Minister. He added that scholars play a key role in establishing peace in Punjab and all segments of society must rise above differences and unite for the security of Pakistan.
He said all schools of thought are on the same page when it comes to the security of the country. Secretary Home Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi said islam teaches peace, love and tolerance. He said the Punjab government is promoting the message of eliminating extremism and fostering tolerance. He stressed that ulema, teachers, parents, media and national institutions must collectively play their role in the proper training and guidance of youth.
Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi appreciated the Punjab government’s efforts for promoting inter-Muslim unity. He said ulema belonging to all schools of thought are partners of the state in establishing peace and strengthening mutual unity. He also paid tribute to the Home Department and law enforcement agencies for their efforts to maintain peace in the province. The meeting concluded with a special prayer for the development, security, prosperity and peace of Pakistan.
