A rumpus witness in the Upper House of the Parliament chaired chaired by Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani when members of the Senate raised the matter that State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) employees have been withdrawing monthly salaries of Rs400,000,0. Senate Chairman advised senators to tell SBP employees about their salaries as well. The caretaker finance minister responding to the concern said salaries in the private banking sector have gone up a lot. “Salaries in State Bank are higher than Finance Ministry and Senate,” Shamshad Akhtar admits. PPP Senator Raza Rabbani said for the Senate the rates of electricity and gas are being increased at the request of the IMF while on the other hand, the ‘royal’ expenses of the government are not reducing. “Classes have also been created in Elite,” the senator argued. “The average salary of Pakistan is 32,000, in which it is difficult to meet two times daily meals. The elite class is not ready to give 32 thousand per month even to the common laborer as basic salary was announced but it is not being implemented,” Raza Rabbani said.
“Money is being eaten by parliament or civil bureaucracy,” Raza Rabbani alleged.
