In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, scores of Anganwadi (rural child care centre) workers and helpers were arrested by Indian police during their protest near Press Club, Jammu. Affiliated to Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), the members of Anganwadi Workers Welfare Association, Jammu, assembled at Press Club and started a protest against the authorities in support of their demands. The peaceful protesters were manhandled and arrested by police. Earlier, addressing the gathering, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh leader Ashok Chaudhry said Anganwadi workers and helpers have been working since long in the territory and they are being paid only Rs 600 and Rs 300 per month respectively since 2010. Another leader of the association, Roshu Sharma stated that the salary from April 2022 till date has not been released and the salary form Jan 2019 to March 2019 has also not been paid till date. She also demanded 100 percent promotion to Anganwadi workers to the rank of Supervisor. The Association also demanded that extra allowances must be paid for doing work of different numbers of schemes.
