November 24, 2022

The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday conducted a hearing on the suo motu notice against the harassment of journalists and ordered all the security institutions to abide by the law. “Currently, no criminal action is being taken by the government against any journalist,” the additional attorney general said. “Another petition has been filed by the civil society in the case of journalists,” Haider Waheed Advocate said. “The petition demands the right to freedom of expression on social media too as it is available on electronic media,” he added. “Due to lack of time, the case cannot be heard today,” Justice Ijazul Ahsan remarked. The hearing of the case was then adjourned for an indefinite period of time. A three-member SC bench, headed by Justice Ijazul Ahsan, heard the case.
