Taking notice of the killing of a pregnant woman in Sheikhupura by her in-laws, who burnt her to death by sprinkling petrol on her, Punjab Women Protection Authority Chairperson Hina Parvez Butt on Wednesday ordered the DPO Sheikhupura to submit a report on the incident.Taking timely action, the police arrested the woman’s mother-in-law, who had been nominated in the FIR. Around 70 per cent body of the woman had been burnt.

Addressing a press conference in connection with the crime, Hina said that violence against women would not be tolerated at any cost, and the perpetrators of such crimes would be taken to the task. “Those who burnt a pregnant woman deserve no mercy,” the Authority chairperson said, adding that the victim’s family would be provided legal assistance. “A safe and secure Punjab for women is our motto,” she declared.
