January 09, 2026

The Rawalpindi Police, in ongoing operations against kite suppliers on the directions of City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Hamdani, arrested seven suspects and recovered 3,100 kites along with 12 spools of string.  A police spokesman said on Thursday that the Ratta Amral Police detained two suspects and recovered 2,250 kites and four spools of string. The Taxila Police arrested one supplier and seized 400 kites and two spools of string, he added.

He said the Wah Cantt Police also took three suspects into custody and recovered 200 kites and five spools of string, while the Gujar Khan Police arrested one individual and recovered 250 kites and one spool of string.  Separate cases were registered against the arrested suspects, he said, reiterating that kite flying had been declared a non-bailable offence and that those involved in the “bloody sport” would not escape the law.
