An event in Doha saw the participation of a large number of Kashmiri community members, focusing on the ongoing situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Modi government's agenda, and collective responsibilities towards the Kashmir cause. Speakers at the event hosted by Raja Abid Yusuf emphasized the need to rise above organizational affiliations and forge unity on the single-point agenda of Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.
Former Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Azad Jammu and Kashmir Abdul Rashid Turabi addressing on the occasion as chief guest highlighted Qatar's commendable role in supporting the Palestinian cause and its consistent backing of Kashmir, noting the invaluable humanitarian efforts of Qatar Charity in rehabilitating victims of devastating earthquakes.
He also acknowledged the role of Al Jazeera Network in amplifying the voices of oppressed people in Palestine, Kashmir, and beyond, with a call for other Muslim nations to follow Qatar’s example. A detailed Q&A session was held, during which it was reiterated that despite India's brutal repression, Kashmiris remain steadfast in their struggle. The speakers stressed the importance of representing the incarcerated Hurriyat leadership and ensuring that the base camp of the freedom movement plays its rightful role.
They affirmed that Kashmir's freedom is inevitable if Pakistan fulfills its obligation as a party to the dispute. Any government that betrays the Kashmiri cause would face consequences, as history has shown. The event concluded with a vote of thanks to the host and prayers for Shaheed Maqbool Butt and all Kashmiri martyrs.
