Commenting on issue of a document appearing in international media, former interior minister Rana Sanaullah described the move as “a very sinister, treacherous, and seditious act” which, he said, needed to be investigated to fix the responsibility. Rana Sana in a post shared on X – formerly and commonly known as Twitter – said although there was nothing new in the story, investigation was needed to establish the authenticity of the information or source document. He also reminded the people that the then prime minister, who has now been convicted and jailed in the Toshakhana case, had a copy of the cypher which he didn’t return and had accepted (on record) that he misplaced or lost it. As the act involves a clear violation of his oath, the senior PML-N leader said the jailed PTI founding leader should be tried under the Official Secret Act.
