In an attempt to counter the conspiracies hatched by India’s ruling nexus Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and Bharatiya Janata Party to fuel sectarianism in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, prominent business leader Shakeel Qalander has sought urgent intervention by Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulama (MMU) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.
This move is seen as an attempt to undermine the ongoing struggle for the right to self-determination in the region. According to Kashmir Media Service, in a letter written to Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on behalf of civil society, Shakeel Qalandar urged him to convene a meeting of MMU to draft qualifications for occupying the sacred pulpit.
