Minister of Maritime Affairs Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh has emphasized the need to promoting maritime trade for sustainable economic development. He was addressing the workshop on National Maritime Policy 2025 in Islamabad on Friday. The Minister said maritime sector will play a very important role in the country's development in future.
He said a target of 100 billion rupees profit from maritime has been set this year. He said, under the "Uraan Pakistan" program, the export target has been set from 32 billion to 60 billion dollars in next four years. Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh said our ports are working fifty percent less than their capacity and there is a lot of potential to be explored. He stressed on increasing the capacity of ports to accommodate bigger ships.
