Punjab Police have so far deported 31,377 Afghans and other foreigners from across the province, including Lahore as the repatriation of foreigners living in the province illegally continues. According to the spokesman for the Punjab Police, there exists in the province 46 holding points where 203 foreigners have been accommodated. Giving further details, he said that 11,576 males, 6,679 females and 13,133 children had so far been repatriated to their own countries.
“Among these people, 10043 were those who had proof of registration cards with them,” the spokesman said, adding, “Besides that, 11067 possessed Afghan citizen cards while 10267 were residing in the province illegally.” On the other hand, Punjab IGP Usman Anwar has said that security has been put on a high alert. “We are trying to ensure the deportation of all illegal immigrants,” he has said, and added that human rights are not being violated during the deportation.
