Punjab launches massive tree planting campaign under Green Pakistan InitiativeBreaking

August 22, 2024

The Punjab Forest Department has initiated a large-scale tree planting campaign under the "Green Pakistan Initiative" to mark the 77th Independence Day. This effort aligns with the vision of a "Green and Prosperous Pakistan." For the first time in history, paragliders were deployed in the hilly areas of Chakwal district, dispersing 20,000 seed balls. In the Murree Division, helicopters spread 20 kg of pine seeds in collaboration with SIFC and the Pakistan Army. The campaign aims to plant over 10 million trees across Punjab. On a single day, various government departments planted more than 3 million trees. The Forest Department led with 1.5 million plantings, while Education, Health, and District Administration collectively planted 1.4 million. Parks and Horticulture oversaw the planting of 100,000 trees. Each planting activity will be monitored through geotagging and uploaded to the "Plant for Pakistan" app. This initiative is part of a broader monsoon tree planting campaign supported by SIFC, aiming for a sustainable and green future for Pakistan.
