Punjab IGP Usman Anwar likely to be replacedBreaking

June 21, 2023

Inspector General of Punjab Police Usman Anwar is likely to be replaced as the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), a major partner of the ruling coalition, seems dissatisfied with his performance. Sources said the PPP had complained about non-cooperation from civil bureaucracy and police in Punjab. The top police officer is also facing allegations of showing negligence on May 9 when the PTI workers attacked several public and military properties. Sources added that major reshuffle could be made following the transfer of the IGP. Anwar, who belongs to 23rd Common, was appointed IGP in January this year after the caretaker government was formed in Punjab following the dissolution of the provincial assembly. The IGP has also served as Additional IG National Highways and Motorways Police.
