Punjab govt withdraws Khadija Shah’s detention orderBreaking

The Lahore Deputy Commissioner has withdrawn the house arrest order of famous fashion designer, daughter of an ex-finance minister and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf supporter Khadija Shah on Monday. The detention order was issued by Lahore DC Rafia Haider on Nov 17 for a period of 30 days under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) ordinance, citing the need to maintain “law and order in the provincial capital. The DC issued the order after an anti-terrorism court (ATC) granted post-arrest bail to Shah on Nov 16 in the fourth and, thus far, final case linked to the May 9 riots filed against her. The decision to detain Ms Shah was taken on Nov 15. Ms Shah, who is also the granddaughter of a former army chief, is facing a terrorism case related to her involvement in the May 9 riots. The Punjab government law officer will present the PTI supporter’s order regarding the withdrawal of her detention notice to the court.
