Provincial Minister for Education Rana Sikandar Hayat said that Punjab government was in contact with all religious schools of thought in order to maintain and promote peaceful environment across the province. He said this while visiting the Control Room, especially set up to monitor the procession and majalis at CPO office here Tuesday. The provincial minister observed that the Punjab government had decided not to suspend the internet except for routes of processions. Commissioner Maryam Khan briefed the provincial minister about the overall security and other arrangements regarding Muharram ul Haram. During Muharram, a total 910 processions and 3182 majalis are being organized. The administration also banned the entry of 86 Ulema and Zakir, the Commissioner was told. Regional Police Officer (RPO) Chaudhary Suhail also maintained that 10,000 police officials had been deputed across the division to maintain law and order situation. Crackdown is also being done for spreading provocative material at social media, he told. On this occasion, MNA Abdul Qadir Gillani, MPA Salman Naeem, Barrister Usama Fazal, Rana Iqbal Siraj, Nazik Karim and others were also present.
