The Punjab government has finalized its preparations for Ramazan, ensuring citizens have access to affordable food and essential items.100 Ramazan bazaars and over 1,200 “Maryam tables” will be set up across 152 tehsils to facilitate smooth distribution.A total of 100 Ramazan bazaars will operate across the province, accompanied by 1,216 Maryam tables in 152 tehsils.
These setups aim to provide subsidized groceries, essential food items, and other necessities to the public at reduced prices. Under the Ramazan Nigahban package, distribution of cards has begun, costing the government Rs 47 billion, ensuring citizens can access discounted rates at the bazaars. Additionally, 120 sale points will be set up specifically for flour distribution, while 105 large supermarket chains are required to display official sale rate counters to maintain transparency.
The Food Security and Commodities Management Department has instructed all district commissioners to maintain price stability, while the Para Force will ensure proper implementation of government rates. The Punjab Food Authority has been tasked with monitoring the quality of food items provided at Maryam tables.
