Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz underscored the critical importance of precise data for effective relief distribution at the inauguration of the Social Economic Registry. Addressing the ceremony, she praised Maryam Aurangzeb and the Ministry of Planning for their role in completing the project, highlighting its significance in ensuring targeted aid. CM Nawaz emphasized that accurate data is essential to address the needs of the population, noting past issues with outdated and incorrect information during the Ramadan relief package distribution. With Punjab’s population exceeding 130 million, she acknowledged the challenges in identifying those who fall under socio-economic categories. She also pointed out the need to update data from the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) and NADRA to avoid misinformed decisions.

The Chief Minister revealed that many farmers have registered multiple plots to evade taxes and highlighted issues faced by tenants and those requiring specialized assistance. Maryam Nawaz announced the launch of a new helpline for project registrations and noted that over 2.5 million people have already registered. She called for district-level crime data to better understand and address local issues, stressing the importance of using taxpayer money wisely. With over 5,000 registration centers now operational, CM Nawaz reported progress in collecting data and implementing solar energy solutions for low-income households. She assured that accurate data is fundamental to delivering effective relief and ensuring that resources are used efficiently.
