Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, has directed the prompt completion of legal procedures for establishing the Punjab Enforcement Regulatory Authority. In a special meeting chaired by CM Maryam Nawaz, a detailed briefing was presented regarding the progress of the authority's establishment. It was revealed that enforcement regulatory authorities will be set up at the provincial, divisional, district, and tehsil levels. Each district will have its own District Enforcement Regulatory Board, while Sub-Divisional Enforcement Officers will ensure the enforcement of laws at the tehsil level. The briefing also included plans for hearing officers at the tehsil level to adjudicate appeals. The Punjab Enforcement Regulatory Authority aims to play a crucial role in combating inflation, with enforcement officers and 40 staff members at the tehsil level monitoring commodity prices and taking action against price gougers based on public complaints.

Additionally, the meeting discussed ongoing efforts to permanently eliminate illegal encroachments, with timelines set for decision-making across four relevant forums at the tehsil level. Measures will be implemented to remove encroachments and widen streets and markets. During the meeting, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz emphasized her unwavering commitment to alleviating inflation for the people of Punjab. She stated that the establishment of a competent authority is essential to combat artificial inflation and hoarding, adding that structural reforms are being introduced across all sectors, and no encroachments will be tolerated in streets and markets.
