Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed Deputy Commissioners and District Police Officers to ensure strict checking of buses and bus terminals ahead of Eid-ul-Azha across the province. In a statement, she directed the authorities concerned to ensure display of official fare lists on every bus and at all bus stands to prevent overcharging of passengers.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif also directed that the route permits be cancelled for buses involved in overcharging and that the licences of bus terminals violating regulations be revoked. The Punjab Transport Department has established a helpline (1071) for redressal of passengers’ complaints, and commuters can report overcharging by calling the helpline.
