Punjab authorities rescue black bear, foil wild rabbit hunting attemptBreaking

Punjab's Wildlife departments in Jhang and Jhelum have made significant strides in combating wildlife crimes. In Jhang, authorities recovered a male black bear from illegal possession in Shorkot, leading to the arrest of the perpetrator who was fined Rs 10,000 by the local court and the bear transferred to Wildlife Breeding Center Jhang. Meanwhile, in Jhelum, wildlife officials thwarted an illegal hunting attempt of wild rabbits in Pind Soka, apprehending the poacher red-handed with a 12-bore gun. The accused was fined Rs 35,000 and issued a challan under the Wildlife Act for his offense. Director General of Punjab Wildlife, Mudassar Riaz Malik, affirmed the commitment to continue these combing operations rigorously to curb wildlife crimes. He urged the public to actively discourage illegal activities involving wild animals and birds, emphasizing a stringent anti-trafficking policy against offenders.
