 PTI's Raja Basharat surrenders in terrorism cases, granted bailBreaking

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former provincial minister Raja Basharat has surrendered before the Islamabad Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) after his arrest warrants were issued in two terrorism cases on Friday.The former minister Raja Basharat also filed a plea for cancellation of his arrest warrants, which the court accepted, providing him with relief.

Raja Basharat is nominated in two cases related to the Judicial Complex attack, with the next hearing set for April 7. The court had earlier directed the relevant ministry to conduct his trial in jail.Meanwhile, ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra also heard four other cases registered against Raja Basharat over PTI’s November 26 protest. The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) granted interim bail till May 5 in these cases on surety bonds worth Rs 5,000 each.

These cases were registered at Aabpara, Kohsar, and Secretariat police stations in Islamabad. During the hearing, Raja Basharat appeared with his lawyers. Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra instructed him to join the investigation before the next hearing. A day earlier, Basharat had filed bail petitions in terrorism cases related to incidents in Taxila and Sadiqabad, seeking interim relief.
