The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf on Monday requested the Supreme Court to fix its petition for hearing today in which the party has challenged the Peshawar High Court divisional bench’s decision which has annulled the PTI intra-party elections depriving it of its election symbol ‘bat’. According to sources, the PTI lawyers including Barrister Gohar and Hamid Khan met the registrar of the Supreme Court and requested him to fix their petition for immediate hearing as this was a very important case that needed an immediate hearing. It is to be noted that the PTI has challenged the decision of the PHC divisional bench in the Supreme Court. On January 3, the Peshawar High Court restored the decision of nullifying the intra-party election of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and withdrew its earlier injunction of the PHC single bench which had suspended the decision of the electoral watchdog. After the decision of the court, PTI’s election symbol “bat” was withdrawn too.
