Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has issued strong demands for immediate and unrestricted access to party founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan for his family and legal team, amid growing concerns over his health and reports of restricted meetings in Adiala Jail. Senior PTI leader and former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser warned that any mistreatment of Imran Khan would prove to be “the final nail in the coffin” for what he called the “illegitimate Form-47 government.”
In a strongly worded statement on X (formerly Twitter), Qaiser said:“We clearly and unequivocally demand immediate, unhindered access to Imran Khan for his family and lawyers. A transparent and official explanation must be issued regarding his health and current situation so that the chain of baseless rumours comes to an end and the nation knows the truth. Imran Khan is the identity of the Pakistani nation. If any harm comes to him, it will be the final nail in the coffin for this illegitimate government.”
In a separate statement, PTI spokesperson Akhanzada Hussain Ahmed Yousafzai echoed the party’s serious concern over social media reports regarding the chairman’s health and the continued obstacles to family and lawyer meetings. “The ban or unclear restrictions on meetings with Imran Khan are a blatant violation of fundamental human and constitutional rights and only fuel suspicion,” the spokesperson said.
He reiterated the demand for immediate restoration of access and an official, transparent update on Imran Khan’s well-being, warning that “hiding information and blocking meetings is completely unacceptable and illegal.” The party threatened to pursue “every constitutional and legal avenue” if the restrictions are not lifted immediately. Imran Khan has been incarcerated in Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi, since August 2023 in multiple cases.
PTI has repeatedly alleged that authorities are deliberately limiting his access to family and counsel, claims the government has denied. As of now, no official statement has been issued by the prison authorities or the government regarding the former premier’s health or the alleged restrictions on meetings.
