PTI media coordinator Janjua sent to jail on judicial remandBreaking

August 01, 2024

The District and Sessions Courts Islamabad have ordered the judicial remand of PTI International Media Coordinator Ahmed Waqas Janjua in a case filed under the PICA Act. During the hearing, Duty Magistrate Abbas Shah was presented with arguments from both sides. FIA Prosecutor Amir Shaikh requested an additional 8-day physical remand for Janjua, citing lack of cooperation from the accused. In response, Iman Mazari, representing Janjua, argued that Janjua was not presented in court for two days and had filed a recovery request with the Islamabad High Court. Hadi Ali Chatta, another advocate for Janjua, contended that the charges under Sections 9, 10, and 11 of the FIR were not applicable to Janjua. He argued that there was no proof of Janjua's involvement or contact with any key figures in the case. Chatta also highlighted that Janjua’s arrest by the FIA followed a judicial process initiated by the CTD, yet no substantial evidence had been presented against him in either case. The court, after reviewing the arguments, decided to send Ahmed Waqas Janjua to jail on judicial remand.
