Profiteering will not be tolerated during Ramadan: Commissioner HazaraBreaking

Commissioner Hazara Fayyaz Ali Shah on Friday directed all district administrations to ensure strict price control, uninterrupted public services and foolproof security during Ramadan 2026, declaring that providing maximum relief to the public is the government’s top priority and that no negligence will be tolerated.

Chairing a high-level meeting at the Commissioner Office Abbottabad, he said Ramadan teaches patience, tolerance and brotherhood, urging traders to respect the sanctity of the holy month and refrain from profiteering, while instructing officials to remain fully vigilant to safeguard public interests across the division.

Deputy Commissioners of all eight districts of the region briefed the Commissioner on preparations for Ramadan, including meetings of Price Review Committees, market management plans and security arrangements.The meeting reviewed measures to ensure price stability of essential commodities, establishment of Sasta Bazaars, transparent auction processes in fruit and vegetable markets, uninterrupted electricity and water supply, improved sanitation, and foolproof security during the holy month.

Commissioner Fayyaz Ali Shah directed that district-level monitoring teams be issued clear SOPs to ensure effective price control.He instructed Price Control Magistrates to conduct daily market inspections and take immediate action against overcharging and profiteering.To promote transparency, it was decided that auction processes in fruit and vegetable markets would be video recorded and commodity rates shared with the public through social media.

The Commissioner also ordered preparation of special relief packages for deserving and underprivileged families, directing district administrations to identify beneficiaries and deliver assistance to their homes in a dignified manner.The meeting further emphasized keeping Rescue 1122 and hospital emergency services fully functional, managing traffic congestion in markets through designated parking areas, taking action against illegal parking, and ensuring uninterrupted electricity during Sehri, Iftar and Taraweeh.
