President Dr Arif Alvi has emphasized the importance of artificial intelligence (AI) in the health sector, saying it could be used to provide better facilities to people. Addressing the Instacare Future Health Forum 2023 in Lahore on Thursday, the president said AI was a great hope for the health and medicine sectors, and in the future, a medical graduate could use it to treat patients. He said AI could be used to store and access more data, which would help doctors make better diagnoses and provide more effective treatment. He also cited the example of the COVID-19 pandemic, in which Pakistan successfully used AI to save lives.

The president said Pakistan had a good collection of data, but it was important to learn the right questions to ask in order to get the right answers from AI. He added that knowledge was now free for everyone, and it was impossible for anyone to control it. President Alvi said Islam stressed the importance of working for the welfare of the community, and that AI should be used to facilitate human beings. He urged the development of AI-powered healthcare solutions that would be accessible to everyone, regardless of their socioeconomic status. Earlier, the president gave away awards to individuals and institutions that had contributed to the development of technology and AI in the healthcare sector.

 Punjab Minister for Health and Social Welfare Dr Javed Akram also addressed the forum, and First Lady Begum Samina Alvi was present. The forum was attended by a large number of healthcare professionals, who discussed the latest trends in AI and its potential applications in the health sector.
