Presence of terrorist groups In Afghanistan security threat for PakistanBreaking

Pakistani Ambassador to the UN Munir Akram briefed the UN Security Council on the security situation in Pakistan, particularly the threat posed by terrorist groups having presence in Afghanistan. He said that Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has carried out a series of cross-border terrorist attacks inside Pakistan, causing casualties among soldiers and civilians. He also said that the TTP has acquired advanced military equipment, apparently from the stocks left behind by foreign forces in Afghanistan.

Akram also spoke about the challenges posed by the presence of millions of Afghan refugees in Pakistan. He urged the international community and the Afghan Interim Government to cooperate with Pakistan in repatriating all illegal Afghan refugees. Despite the challenges, Akram said that Pakistan believes that engagement and cooperation is the only feasible path to promote to a peaceful and prosperous Afghanistan. He also reiterated Pakistan's commitment to the goal of a nuclear-weapons-free world and its support for international efforts to promote fair and equitable solutions to disarmament and non-proliferation challenges.
