The Police Martyrs' Day (PMD) one Wednesday was observed with a ceremony honouring the officers who lost their lives in the line of duty. A police contingent presented a ceremonial salute at the Police Martyrs' Memorial and District Police Officer (DPO), Dr Naveed Atif and Deputy Commissioner, Ayesha Rizwan laid floral wreaths alongside the families of the martyred personnel . The police officials, civil society representatives and relatives of the martyrs attended the event.

The special prayers were offered for the departed personnel, Pakistan's security and lasting peace. Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Commissioner, Ayesha Rizwan said the sacrifices of police personnel had helped ensure public safety and security. She described giving one's life to protect people and their property as the highest form of public service and said the nation remained indebted to its fallen officers. DPO Dr Naveed Atif said the annual observance served as a reminder of the sacrifices made by police personnel in protecting the country from terrorism and crimes.

He said the police would continue to perform their duties despite the risks involved. He also paid tribute to the families of the martyred officers, adding the force stood by them and remained committed to their welfare. Following the ceremony, Dr Atif met relatives of the police martyrs, listened to their concerns and assured the police department's continued support.
