A shooter belonging to a crime gang allegedly shot a young man dead in Millat Park area here for ‘leaking’ information about another hit man, leading to his death in an ‘encounter’. A CCTV footage of the incident shows an unidentified armed man stopping a car and shooting the man in the driving seat. Identified as Fareed Gujjar (35), the man later succumbed to his bullet injuries at a hospital. The police termed it a targeted killing, saying Fareed was allegedly murdered by a sharp shooter.
A police official said a gang had hired the shooter to get Fareed killed for leaking information about a “member” Umair Gujjar, a hit man of Lahore, to the police. He said Umair, who was involved in many targeted killings in the city, had recently been killed in an encounter with the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) police. He said after Umair’s death in encounter, the gang had reportedly hired a hit man to get Fareed Gujjar killed in revenge. A case has been registered against the unidentified killer(s), while the body of the deceased was shifted to the city morgue for an autopsy.
